Unit 4- World Religions
Christianity:
- Believed in one god.
- Most important events took place as the birth of christ, the life of christ, the death and resurection od christ.
- In the New testament, which is after the birth of christ, Jesus Christ was born 2,000 years ago and born into a Jewish religion
- In the New testament it was told that even after Jesus Christ’s death, he appeared to his 12 apostles (followers) ande had told them to keep believing in him and whoever would contine out their beliefs in God’s teachings that they would be forgiven of their sins and have an everlasting life.
- Believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God, who was sent to Earth to teach people about peace and love, just like god loves them.
-Today Christianity has many forms like:
- Catholic
- Lutherans
- Methodists
- Baptists
They worship in churches , with singing and readings from the Bible and silent prayers.

- They developed the thought of monotheism, that there was only one God for all of humanity. (Yahweh)
- Believed in the Ten Commandments that God gave Moses
- History had a purpose; that God is leading humanity into a better place.
- Three main concepts of Judaism:
- Monotheism: the idea of a single God
- Lawfulness: the idea that God sets down moral laws and agrees to be fair to those who obey him.
- History: the idea that God is changing hte world and leading humanity to a better life.
- Today most Hebrews live in the U.S. and the former Soviet Union.
- They worship in Synagogues
- In Judaism, the Shabbat, or Sabbath, is a special day of rest and prayer. This begins at dusk.
